Most of my work has to do with trying to create something beautiful or trying to catch the moment, but every now and then I feel moved to say something about what is going on in the world.
THE ‘TOTEM SERIES’ CONSISTS OF PAINTINGS AND WALL HANGINGS THAT ARE INSPIRED BY AMERICAN INDIAN IMAGES. SOME INCORPORATE VERSIONS OF THESE IMAGES. THE PAINTINGS WERE DONE FIRST, AS PLANS FOR THE WALL HANGINGS. THEY ARE ALL 72" x 72".
'Howls from the Forest of the Night" IS A CRY FROM THE HEART TO HALT THE DEGRADATION OF THE NATURAL WORLD.
"She Who Watches" IS A COMBINATION OF AN OLD ROCK PAINTING, AN IMAGE FROM A NORTH WEST INDIAN BLANKET AND AN IMAGE FOUND ON AN INDIAN SPINDLE, SIGNIFYING THE CONNECTION OF THE ‘MOTHER’ TO ETERNITY.
'Knowing and Fear' WAS SUGGESTED BY MY ,AT THE TIME, FOUR YEAR OLD GRANDSON, STRUGGLING WITH HIS FEAR AND AGGRESSION IN RESPONSE TO A VERY WILD PUPPY, HE REQUESTED I PAINT A WOLF.
